Work → Canon wants you, to make babies.
Ok so it’s only Canon Japan, so my job isn’t encouraging me to go home and pop out a few new philibusters. Not that I could anyways. No girlfriend and no obvious prospects either. I seem to be stuck in a rut. I’m not attracted to most of the girls I know and the ones I am are showing a decided lack of interest no matter what I do. Oh well. But anyways.
According to this CNN article Canon Japan is cutting back the hours and forcing it’s employees to go home and spend some more time with their families. The 12 hour workday is cutting into family life.
I’m really not surprised. Canon seems like a pretty family oriented company here in the states. It would be just like them to force everyone to go home and help raise the national birth rate. Of course it only says it is doing this at its’ headquarters. I bet you that the tech support call center in Japan doesn’t have the same policy. It will be just like here where every other Canon building closes for a holiday the call center is still open. “Who needs more geeks? They don’t need more holidays, they already get like half of what everyone else in the company gets.”
