So I watched Kick-Ass last night. I have to say that I did enjoy it. The main reason why is the same as everyone else reason for liking it, Hit-Girl. Honestly she made the movie. Nothing else came close to her. She definitely kicked ass. The movie wasn’t great but just awesome. It didn’t try to be anything more than what it was a crazy take on superheros with a lot of violence and blood. It pulled it off well enough. There were, like it all movies, parts that strained my ability to suspend my disbelief. But hell the news almost triggers a gag of my suspension of disbelief. Usually when they are reporting on something/someone so stupid I can scarcely believe it/them exists.

I’m not sure when ‘wishful thinking’ about a live action Akira turned into rumors but I’ve been hearing murmurs for a long time. The latest I’ve heard is that the guys who directed Book of Eli are trying to get the rights to produce it. I haven’t seen Book of Eli yet so I can’t comment on the directing ability. I plan to check it out but I doubt it will be in theaters when I get around to it.

I watched Akira in highschool. I watched it twice and I really didn’t quite get it at the time. Now of course several years later I’ve forgotten enough of it to make my already muddled view of it quite opaque. I did enjoy it at least and a live action version is something that I would definitely check out.

Actually no I don’t because it’s Qinton Rampage Jackson and he would kill me.

Liam Neeson = Hannibal
Sharlto Copley = Murdock
Quinton Rampage Jackson = B.A. Baracus

So I actually like the Sarah Connor Chronicles. It’s not a really big hit with the mainstream, but I’ve never been one to follow the mainstream. I think it’s an interesting show and it gives me the chance to forget T3 as it is shown that T3 is not a part of the Sarah Conner Chronicles series.

I hated Terminator 3. As far as I am concerned it never ever happened. The movie was flat out stupid and bad. I don’t care how advanced the T-X is she shouldn’t have been able to control cars and things like she did. I mean come on, did everyone suddenly build in wireless connections and remote driving servos in their cars. Ok I can see it controlling some things, esp the T-1s near the end of the movie but cars, No. I don’t buy it. It’s just too much belief to suspend in order for me to accept that it can control something that doesn’t have that level of autonomous control build into it. Cars have no ability to drive themselves, ergo it can’t force them to drive themselves. That’s like using mind control to make people fly. T3 = Fail.

Terminator 4 is going to be coming out next year. I’ve only peaked at a couple of the screenshots and I have to say that I’m a little interested but wary. It’s not really a reboot but it doesn’t really depend on the previous movies either. Which is good and since it’s set early on in the war, before the T-101 was around, there won’t be any tempt to do things as stupid as the controlling cars like in T3. Or at least I hope so. When it is done right I absolutely love post apocalyptic settings. Fallout is a major win for me as well as many other Mad Max settings. So that’s one point that has my attention. Also I’ve sort of been waiting for a movie in the Terminator series that does this. I think it was long over due. All the flashbacks/flashforwards in the previous movies made me want more of that type of action.

I hope the Sara Conner series manages to get some more people interested because I do like it and want it to continue. I also hope that T4 isn’t like T3 and turns out good.
